I posted in the Making the clay target fly wider and faster thread that I heard there was an article in either the June or July issue of T & F by the outgoing prez speaking to that very subject.

If anyone still gets that mag could you please let us know some of the particulars.

    Thanks

It wouldn't surprise me the outgoing EC always seems to get religion about the time they have no say. Once they get the gun and NO VOTE that is. I don't get T&F either, hope someone on here still does.

    Flyer,

Current President, Terry Dean has an article in the July issue. I get the hard copy magazine but maybe someone who gets the digital magazine will post this article. Here are a few comments by Dean.

"He would like to see ATA shooting go back to three-hole targets and longer distances to reduce the number of ties and perfect scores. However, he does concede that most shooters do not agree with this opinion. Nothing stays the same, and it seems that what we have is what makes the majority happy."

When asked what he would like the ATA membership to know, he said, "You have a great office staff, with Lynn Gipson heading it up. You also have a board and an EC that love this sport and will protect its integrity."

"The way membership will increase is if shooters recruit shooters."

Garry, We have heard that same retoric for the last 20 yrs. They always say we shooters should recruit shooters. They screw the pooch and we should do their job for them. They run shooters off faster than we as members can recruit them. We do not need longer distances, we need more concrete, and wider angles. Most of all we need a BOD with the balls to enforce the rules of our sport.
Tell Terry, when the EC and BOD start acting like they give a shit about the membership we will try and increase it for the organization. Roger C.

Well it started off kind of good then it went right in the crapper ( 2 holer) with the above quote. He's right about one thing. LG has his head up something.

But he did find that building.

I wonder how many of the stooges will be calling for his head after he said HE wished they would go back to 3 hole targets.

Doesn't matter, I think he has less than 3 months left.

OH Boy, the gun's just around the corner. Yahoo

Terry Dean & Lynn Gypsun set the Targets to 3 Hole Settings and 50 Yard Distance at Specified Target Height on all Traps for this Years Grand, Your decision is FINAL, it's in the rule book on target settings, that's what Neil Winston stated God Rest His Soul, RIP Neil.

What will "more concrete" do if not add longer distances??
Is there another purpose to pouring more concrete?
Maybe for wider sidewalks to accommodate bigger/more ATV's.....I dunno?

mudpack, How many times must you be told added yardage will only affect the long yardage shooters. wider angles, longer target flights, and any other changes will affect all shooters. Are you to dense to understand that?
It is starting to worry me that you are allowed to own a gun. Roger C.

Maybe he's exceeding his allowed computer use time in the state pen or some happy valley. We can only hope he doesn't have access to a firearm.

I am only guessing but I think this may have caused some confusion. In other words, if we don't need longer distances (you are talking target flight), what is the need for longer pads with the addition of concrete (distance shooters are from the trap itself).

Stl, If you increase the distance the target flies, you affect all shooters. If you add more yardage you only affect the 27 to 30 yard shooters. If the rule for gaining yardage is revised only those capable of being a competitive shooter will ever stand there. Making it a little tougher on the elite and not on Joe average, should equalize the competition. Roger C.
Look at my post Making targets fly faster.
