In another thread it was mentioned that many ATA members were or are Masons.
One club I used to shoot at many of the shooters that were Masons also belonged to an Indian Org. The name was Okoboji (spelling). Most wore a patch on the back of their vest. Haven't noticed any in quite awhile.
Another patch I saw was an Indian looking off in the distance. I asked a few shooters but no one knew anything. A friend of mine said he heard they were called the Fuggwee Indians. The caption being ......Where in the Fugg are we???
You're kidding I said. He was dead serious. He was pulling my leg, right?

    Regards....Gerald

The Atlantic Indians hold 2 shoots a year at Pocono Manor Resort in NE PA. I'm not an Indian, but have several friends who are, and they always say how great a time they have. I've been to the Resort to help them run some ATA shoots and Love the place!

Chief Wampum was usually how everyone referred to the treasurer of the Indian group.

Some Indian organizations (such as the Canadian Indians) have ceased operations.

The oldest Indian organization, the Okoboji Indians, held their first tournament in 1897 and is still in existence and holds a wonderful annual Pow Wow & tournament.

They held their first tournament in Ohio in 1908.

And the Okoboji Indians held their 2015 Pow Wow at the Cardinal Center. It was a great shoot and ceremony and their tradition continues today, some 120 years later.

Used to be the Tuscarawas indians from Steubenville Ohio. Organization died off about the mid 1980's as people did not have the time to attend the event and kids were taking up time. The Okoboji Indians will have a tournament this year in Evansville Indiana. The Atlantic Indians are going strong up in the New York Area

The Atlantic Indians hold their shoot at the Pocono Mountains, in PA. They celebrate their 100th Anniversary this year.

The Tuscarawas held their first tournament in 1965.

HB, thanks so much for the article. That shoot was the year I started shooting at age 11. I shot with the majority of the shooters listed and have very fond memories of them. I met many of them at the at the tri state at Jefferson. For me that time was surely the "golden age" of trapshooting. Later in the 80's I shot some with George Lefkovitz and Joe Bethel at Allegheny along with Tony Olivito. Always welcoming and gracious toward me. Shot with George Guydosh both in WVa and Fl. He now lives in Okeechobee and is still shooting. My memories are less of who the winners were but of the good time I always had and what a privelege it was to know these people.

Illini Indian Pow Wow state shoot in two and a half weeks on a busy 3 day weekend and no program or any information out yet. They'd probably get better participation and membership if a program came out 2 weeks ago.

HB, I just blew up that picture and by the gun the guy on the right is shooting, I realized it is NOT you.

From a distance, it sure looks like your stance and all.

Thanks for the history lessons !!!
