Notice on page 21 how it states additional travel expenses are hidden back in page 17. And then on page 17 they are not broken down. Now that is some semi clever work there. $69,000 at the bottom line plus page 21. LOL You ATA members must be a bunch of dolts.​

Just curious since from your previous posts it sounded like you were a member yourself. You do realize that a
few of the people digging into and calling out the ata screw ups are members don't you?

Me, I would rather take $500.00 to a casino than spend one cent with the ata

 

Interesting that the presidential gun isn’t line itemed this year. I wonder where it is buried? Maybe ‘special public relations’?

I also find it amazing that travel expenses for the ‘volunteers’ are split across at least *five* different expense line items that I can easily discern. I’d love to know the total amount per year the ATA spends on T&E.

They don't, the Gun Clubs lose their ass, because of ATA Trophy Packaqges the clubs HAVE TO PAY FOR
if their is bad weather and entries drop, the club still has to pay, ask Las Vegas Gun Club Mgr, He had to Mortgage his house and take a loan to pay the ATA., That's Bull Shit, There should be a weather Stipulation on costs., THE ATA TAKES NO

Doc, many claim the Satellite Grands are the reason why smaller clubs are dropping ATA shoots. So you might say more clubs dropping holding Satellite Grands because they've become losers will help make even smaller clubs more profitable again. Seems like a win-win for those small local clubs. So, what's the problem again?

I have stated for years the satellite grands lead to the demise of the small clubs. Count up all of the major shoots in a year, any shooter that is a competitor must attend the majors if they want to make any of the state or All American teams. This leaves no time for attending any small local shoots. The small clubs are the incubator for registered shooters. The drop in registered shooters followed the rise of the AA points and satellite grands. The EC not doing any thing to counteract the rise of sporting clays along with the small clubs being hurt has led to the situation we now confront.
The incompetent actions of the EC and the BOD have, crippled the ATA to a point it may never recover from. The bylaw changes make it impossible for the members to take any corrective action to help rebuild the organization. Roger C.

 

Ron, based on the information provided it's really hard to say. The revenue side appears to be what the host club pays the ATA for the privilege to host the satellite grand. The expense side is not defined but would mostly include the expenses of the EC, CHC, and delegates that are reimbursed for their appearance at said shoot. The ATA should publish a list a detailed list of what is included in the expense side of the satellite grands. The list should include names, expense types and expense amounts.

I don't necessarily have an issue with the expense reimbursement as long as the benefactors are actually doing something at the shoot.

 

Roger, I disagree that chasing an ALL STATE Team has a significant impact on the local shoots. Most states base their team awards on averages, not where they shot.

It is a part of the whole problem. You do not get AA points or recognition at small club shoots. The whole system is flawed, it is favored to support large shoots. The small clubs never see the top shooters in their states at their shoots. The average shooters want to compete with them even when they know they will loose. We have lost to many of our small clubs that do not register shoots anymore. They are the breeding ground for the registered game. And we are loosing them. Roger C.

 

Roger, is it a Satellite Grand problem or the structure of the AA points system. There are several large shoots that have AA points. These shoots have the same affect on the small local shoots that the Satellite Grands do. The State shoots would have same impact. I can stay home and shoot locally or go to some state shoot to chase AA points.

The AA team isn't going away. Maybe they should reduce the amount of members. I don't know if anything that is done is going to change the current mindset of ATA shooters or create a bunch of new ATA shooters. Well, the SCTP thing has created, and continues to create, a bunch of new ATA members but not many are really ATA shooters.

It is a lack of competent leadership problem. The leaders do not have a clue as to how to manage the organization. They hide all of their actions, they do not post their meeting agendas, they ignore suggestions from the members. They can not comprehend that they are not moving the sport forward, their denial is killing registered trap for our members. They have lost the respect and trust of the members. Sad but true. Iowa guy, If you add all of the state shoots, satellite grands, zone shoots together, it does not leave any time for the smaller clubs to make any profit from their low attendance registered shoots. They are dropping the registered shoots, and leaning towards the local meat, and small calcutta shooters. The ATA is ignoring the very clubs that send registered shooters to join the ATA. The leaders either do not know how to revive the sport, or they do not care what happens as long as they get their free ride and gun.
If they care they should publish a business plan to save the sport. Not doing so is admitting they are not capable of doing the job They and the total BOD need to be elected on ability and not because they are good old boys. Roger C.
