Since Mr. Gipson announced we might save some money using prison labor I am asking anyone has seen any prisoners at Sparta. What do they look like? Do they wear orange? Are they disguised? Male or female? How bout of pic or two.

Do they look like this? Or more like those Pull2012 guys?

    Responses appreciated.

governer.jpg The least Illinois can do Is let the governor that cut the ribbon on the grand opening at Sparta get some fresh air by cutting the grass or maybe patch some pot holes-- Keep your eyes open for #40892-424

At least Blago built the World Shooting Complex. Can you name any other politician that did anything for the trapshooting community? Any one in Ohio care to chime in?..Blago went against the democrats in chicago..That is why he is in jail.Never F##ck with the democratic machine in Illinois.Madigan and his daughter will put you away ..They are well connected. The swamp is very deep..

No doubt, #40892-424 was the greatest politician to ever come to the aid of the ata. He should have at the least a plaque on the front of the HOF.

Maybe an event named after him. It would include the 200 singles, 100 doubles, the GAH and another cap event of their choosing. The person that breaks 424 X 500 wins a weeks all expenses paid vacation in sparta AFTER the grand is over. Just think, you could spend another week there enjoying all of the amenities located in the heart of the trapshooting world.

I hope that shoot stays there for the next 100 years. What a legacy for the greatest politician to ever befriend the ata. The members should thank God every night for # 40892-424

Now, the taxpayers might have a different opinion, but what the hell do they know.

And BTW, I don't live in Ohio.

Just for the sake of getting the facts straight.....the ODNR has given several grants to the CC. Two governors.
Not quite. Three days after Blago did the ribbon cutting he gave an anti gun speech to the Chicago crowd. He then gutted the IDNR funds that were to support the WSRC.
Actually he tried to sell Obamas seat to fellow dems in Chicago. It was the feds wiretap that got him in prison.

Jeeeezzzzz FG, the story from palos shooter sounded great and you had go " chime in" and spoil it with those darn facts. Typical of this site, can't let anything go without one of you guys fact checking and then destroying a perfectly good swipe at Ohio by posting the truth.

Keep that kind of stuff up and some Kool-Aid drinkers will be calling this the DARK SIDE and predicting we won't be here in 30 days.

Wait a minute! They already did that didn't they?

Blago did what Blago thought was in his best interest and what he thought he could personally benefit from ... Blago did nothing intentionally to benefit the sport of trap shooting, the members of or the ATA , as it turned out not to benefit the State of Illinois either ... The democratic organization had and will always have a firm grasp on anything that happens or is kept from happening in the State ... Graft and corruption fuel the fires in the State of Illinois, want something done it costs money, if it didn't get done there was not enough money ... When all else fails, raise the taxes ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

I guess the tax payers in Illinois have spent over 50 million dollars to build the World Shooting Complex for the ATA and its members.Nevada has also spent some big bucks on their shooting complex.Dont worry so much about the politics,it is just a great place to shoot. And I dont care who built or paid for it.

I wont sell my soul to the antigun creeps. I wont give my money to the antigun politicians. But then again I told the ATA that. They didn't care about their own marketing company's findings.

Good luck wherever you shoot. According to the other thread. Neil even told'em so.

Prison orange would look good on the 2012Pull gang.

The ATA was well aware of their having to move far in advance, they actually wanted it to happen and did it in such a way the State of Ohio would be blamed for it … The State of Illinois pulled the plug on those that were on the schedule 2 years ago when they shuttered the WSRC, the SCPT made arrangements to move to Ohio rather than chance that happening again … The ATA is a dead horse dealing with Illinois on a place that will deteriorate and crumble to the ground …

If you are from Northern Illinois surely you would remember when Daley (Richard J.) bull dozed Meigs Field which was a big time money maker for the City of Chicago ..? 20 minutes right down Lake Shore Drive and you would be in the "Loop" … The only thing 20 minutes away from the WSRC is nothing … WPT …. (YAC) …

    Northern Illinois Pride,
One corrupt ATA official vetoed a sweet heart deal that the organization was offered. The grounds would have been built at no cost to the ATA and they would have received a 100 year lease at a cost of $1.00 per year. The GENTLEMAN went to the location where all of the sponsors were, HE EXITED HIS CAR DID NOT MEET THE OFFICIALS THAT WERE THERE, SAID THE PLACE WAS NOT FOR THE ATA. got back in his car and left. The EC and BOD did nothing to reverse his decision. This is rumor, but I was told he had purchased a lot of property at a location in Indiana that he was pushing, it did not happen. Look up the history before you put all of the blame on the state of Ohio.
The BOD and EC knew that the members did not want the Illinois location. They moved there anyhow. Wonder what the deciding factor was to make them go there? The state of Ill. had a lot of smoke blown up their back sides and so did the citizens of Illinois. Roger C.

To continue the history lesson. The Grand had to move from the airport site..In 2005-2006 the ATA could not afford to purchase the land and build a complex. They took the Illinois deal. Was it the best ,who knows. It is always nice to shoot in your own backyard. INDIANAPOLIS would be a better place ,restaurants and motels abound.Plus close to the Interstate.
How about Megs field in chicago,Democrats got rid of the rich peoples airport.I dont own a plane..They also got rid of Lincoln Park gun Club on Lake Michigan?.Blago was a Repuglican..built the complex.didnt even shoot..I dont think this will be setteled in my lifetime,do you..
So for now the ATA are just renters for a few weeks a year.Something like prositution.Almost like renting a hall for a wedding..Maybe if Illinois votes in a democratic govenor ,he will bulldoze the complex as he is anti gun,,JB for Gov.he sucks.

Be sure the "history lesson" is complete and accurate ........

    From a "N1H1" post:

From the "minutes of the 2002 Annual Meeting of the ATA BOD:"

"In July of 1998, the ATA announced in a press release its intention to search for a new site due to various reasons which included the proposed growth of the ATA and to provide other services to users of the trap fields. The Airport had initiated a strategic Master Plan update that looked at the long-term needs for the growth at the Airport. The extension of the south parallel runway was identified as a critical need by the year 2008. The Master Plan seemed to fit with the ATA’s time frame for a transition to a new site, either locally or out of state."

"The City of Dayton, Montgomery County, and Vandalia/Butler Chambers of Commerce teamed with the Airport to find a way to retain the ATA in the County. Numerous sites in Montgomery County, Miami County and Greene County were considered. The site the ATA wanted approached 1,700 acres. The Airport proposed, and still is considering, the potential lease of about 400 acres west of the Airport for utilization by the ATA. The ATA rejected the offer because this site was too small." too small ???? not hardly, the Sparta wheels were turning ........

"To date, the City of Dayton and the Airport have not asked the ATA to leave. Neither previous Airport Directors nor the previous City Managers told the ATA to leave or that the lease would be ended."

"Another question from the audience prompted the following comments: “we (DIA) have not mentioned a specific “move by date.”

READ THIS UNTIL IT SINKS IN ...... BY the "2002 Annual Meeting of the ATA BOD", "the ATA had settled on a site in Illinois", OTHER LOCATIONS WERE A MOOT POINT ...... " In 2001, the ATA settled on a site in Illinois and began working on a relocation plan" ..... All from the "minutes of the 2002 Annual Meeting of the ATA BOD:", where "Sparta" was already "settled on" .........

    From your link:

"There is no immediate pressure to make that move now," Reitz said. "The biggest reason for the decision is that they don't have to move now."

"Reitz said there are other sticking points that may have scuttled the deal, if only temporarily. Many of the group's 54,000 members weren't enamored by the prospect of traveling to Sparta, which has few hotels or restaurants and no major airport nearby."

"if only temporarily" ..... is ATA speak for done deal ...... because they didn't care about "Many of the group's 54,000 members weren't enamored by the prospect of traveling to Sparta, which has few hotels or restaurants and no major airport nearby." .....

Did you read where the ATA was short a few million dollars..I guess they had the 46 million in loans lined up to build it.The people of Illinois paid for it by higher taxes.Remember the only money the government has is YOURS..

    This ??????

"Reitz said no one at the ATA balked at expanding the facility until last week, when board members met and decided it would be short $4 million it needed to build a multiuse complex in Sparta."
    ......

I didn't miss it ...... I just didn't give any credit to it, because those who write faux news only know what someone "tells" them ..... And I doubt if "JEFF SMYTH" was ever an ATA member, or even cared about the accuracy of his story .....

The ATA told the membership that it was Sparta or NOTHING, because the ATA could not afford to "build" ANYWHERE ..... And we all know the ATA tells the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth ......

Thanks Garry, I talked to Sol for some time about trap house design. No mention about the move to Sparta was mentioned at the time. Roger C.
