I am in the process of re-reading the 1918 D. H. Eaton book: Trapshooting: The Patriotic Sport

I have read this book once before but wanted to re-read it to see what I had missed along the way.

While reading the introduction, I wondered just how many shooters actually care about the past, how, when, and where the sport began.

I have been blessed over the years to have made the acquaintance of History Buff, who has been my guiding light, and others on here who contribute the ever important information on the sport's History.

Are there many who sit and think about the past or do most just concentrate on the present and future ?

I love reading and learning about the different styles, guns, loads, targets etc., of the past through to the present and feel that I would have missed a lot about the sport if it weren't for HB and others who have so much to offer.

Just a HUGE THANK YOU to HB, Drew Hause, and all the others who have contributed to the ever leaning history of our sport.

Perhaps this belongs in the History Buff's forum. So if it's felt that is a better place I ask the moderators to place it at that forum.

I just wanted to see how many shooters actually care about the beginnings, especially the younger shooters, or if they just enjoy the game today and not worry about the past.

I have been very fortunate to of met so many great people and shooters over the years since I joined as Life Member in 1975 ... There are many that continue to amaze me to this day History Buff being one that comes to mind right off .. I pretty much made up my mind to eliminate most shooting especially registered being as I am not real happy with the lack of interest the ATA has in the membership by not doing anything to progress the sport as opposed to create more set backs and financial obligations (think ED ) while the sport seems to be floundering ... I can go up and shoot at the club (Ben Avery) and not have to be subjected to any of the crap the ATA hands out ... If I ever get the itch, I got the shells and a Life Membership card but that has not happened in a long time so not sure that will be changing any time soon ... WPT ... (YAC) ...
